Using the Health Detective Screening system we test for a variety of things, one of the most important being the communication between the brain and the gut as the gut is known as the second brain.

We also explore a number of factors known to aggravate some of the symptoms associated with Autism:

Is the body reacting to various foods or food groups?  Intolerances can cause a lot of stress to the body and can interfere with the blood brain barrier, responses by the adrenal glands and blood sugar balance.

Has the child reacted to a vaccination or are they currently reacting to electro-magnetic stress?

Are the neuro-transmitters balanced? These are needed to stabilise moods. 

Is the body actually digesting food appropriately?  If not, key nutritional deficiencies can occur. We test for enzymes, amino acids, good bacteria, vitamin, minerals and essential fatty acids (needed for brain health).

Are there pathogens aggravating the gut?  Fungal overgrowth and parasites originate from the gut and have the ability to pass through the blood brain barrier, therefore causing unrest and confusion.

The test is simple to do and involves a small electrical current (undetectable) being passed through a probe against the finger. For some children we need to use the finger of a ‘surrogate’ (parent or carer) and the frequency is still passed through the child. This method is used successfully on our baby clients.

The Consultation with the parent or carer helps us to determine which tests are required as we try to limit the amount of items tested – sitting still for 30 minutes can be a challenge for some children. It is important that the child’s situation is explained upon booking a Screening, in order that we can decide whether to split the appointment into two visits.

The first appointment is with the parent or carer for the consultation process – an in-depth discussion about diet, tendencies, child’s history.

The second appointment is to test the child.

A written report is then emailed to the parent so that the child doesn’t get uncomfortable whilst waiting for the results to be explained. Another way of doing this is to have another parent or carer take the child out of the appointment so that the results can be discussed.

The Screening can be stopped at any time and we work at the child’s pace, taking frequent breaks if that is what is needed. Most parents bring books or games as distractions into the appointment to help keep the child amused.

We initially advise that they go back to their GP to discuss their concerns and ascertain whether further tests are required to rule out serious medical conditions.  Once they have  been given the ‘all clear’ we are in a position to help.

This screening involves looking at what may be irritating the bowel. Good digestion involves food being adequately broken down by enzymes and acid, which require good hydration levels. We test for dehydration, amylase, lipase, hydrochloric acid amongst other digestive substances. The painful bloating associated with IBS can sometimes be due to a disturbance of the good bacteria so this is tested along with a list of known food triggers. Food intolerances can be fairly common so we need to rule these out, but sometimes it is a combination of the food not being broken down as well as reacting to some food groups that can cause bloating, diarrhoea or constipation.

We test for endocrine imbalances as stress is a known factor behind IBS and for some men, the symptoms worsen when they experience pressure. For some women they worsen around the time of the month.

We test for emotional factors as there are many people who literally ‘hold’ their emotions in their abdomen. This can help to bring awareness to the emotion so that the client can later explore this avenue.

Sometimes IBS is diagnosed by the Consultant after a bad intestinal infection such as giardia, gastro-enteritis or picking up a bug on holiday. Although these things may have been treated at the time,  there can be underlying inflammation in the intestines from this or there may still be a slight resonance of the bug remaining. We test for parasites, bacteria, fungal overgrowth and viruses.

The Health Detective is different from blood or stool samples. It is a very simple test passing resonances of many different items through a point on the finger and seeing how the skin responds. It is non-invasive, non-painful, quick and accurate. There are no tests that are 100% accurate but we pride ourselves on using the information gleaned during the test to create manageable Programmes to return people to good health.

We see excellent results for IBS and it makes sense that when you remove sources of inflammation, balance digestion, heal the gut and the emotions, the body will respond favourably.

In the 1950′s, a German medical doctor, Reinhold Voll, found that he could accurately locate acupuncture points using a simple electrical measuring device, the Ohm-meter. Being involved in the ancient Chinese practice, his idea was that modern technology may enhance acupuncture in the treatment of various chronic diseases such as allergies, chronic fatigue, migraines, and chronic liver, kidney or pancreatic diseases, and the foundations of energetic medicine were born.

Dr. Voll’s research led him to electro-acupuncture (EAV). He found that acupuncture points had a uniquely different electrical resistance (lower) than the tissues immediately adjacent to them. The electrical resistance of the points alter with physical and emotional changes giving an indication whether the body is in a healthy state. Dr. Voll demonstrated that electric currents could enhance manipulation of the traditional acupuncture points.

Although energetic medicine is not within the parameters of ‘conventional’ medicine, in the hands of a skilled and experienced Practitioner, an EAV machine can provide valuable information about the body’s vital functions in a non-invasive way. The EAV is a highly technical instrument used in energetic medicine and it is crucial that the results are interpreted accurately.

Vitamin and Mineral assessment indicates the nutritional levels of the body, and is a recommended test for all. Most nutrients are supplied to us through food and water and used by the body in its day to day activities. This is a comprehensive overview of ‘Where the Body is Now’. In the first section, it determines toxicity levels, strength of the immune system and organ fatigue.

It is important to know which organ your body considers as toxic, as everything else will be working twice as hard to compensate. Correct herbal support can provide relief to the other organs.

The immune system is also vital. Hormones are an important part of the body’s control mechanism and have powerful effects on its operation. If hormones are out of balance, particularly for long periods, it can be extremely detrimental to physical and mental health. The system will identify any hormones that are out of balance and consequently which endocrine glands (thyroid, pituitary, adrenals, ovaries etc.,) may be under strain. Once this is determined appropriate remedial action can then be taken. As with all Screenings, the system does not measure direct levels, it determines energetic imbalances. 56 hormones are included in the test – we always test Vitamins and Minerals alongside the Hormones as imbalances in these can mimic hormonal imbalances. This test is most often used when the client is at the end of the road with conventional medicine. It is a comprehensive picture of energy balances and organ function. This test has been useful in many cases where a root cause was needed to be identified before a course of action could be taken.
